Shropshire nominations invited for Aegon British Tennis Awards
The awards, launched by the LTA, Tennis Foundation and Aegon in September 2015, are a celebration of the people and places that deliver participation and competition. It's a way of celebrating the 25,000 volunteers who provide their time for free to support tennis, increasing opportunities to play, compete and perform.
They recognise great work at county, regional and national level with prizes awarded to the winners at each stage. The national winners will be invited to a star-studded ceremony at The Championships, Wimbledon in July 2017 to recognise their achievements.
Just like last year, there is eight different entry categories and the first step for Tennis Shropshire is to choose a winner for each.
The categories are volunteer of the year, young volunteer of the year, coach of the year, club of the year, community venue of the year, education award, disability award and outstanding achievement.
Nominations received will be revealed at a civic reception from 6pm on Monday, November 7 at the University Centre Shrewsbury to coincide with the main draw for the Aegon GB Pro-Series women's professional tennis tournament at The Shrewsbury Club, which will run throughout that week.
All nominees, plus a guest, will then be invited to the inaugural County Awards Dinner to be held at, and sponsored by, The Shrewsbury Club on Saturday, November 26. The evening will see the awards panel announce the county winners.
The nomination process for this year's awards is open until October 31 - with more details available by visiting www.lta.org.uk/britishtennisawards
