Makeup trends for Autumn and Winter 2016
They’re here: the brand new makeup trends for the upcoming season have arrived, and our beauty therapists at Imagine Spa in The Shrewsbury Club can’t wait to share them with you!
The buzz words this season are definitely bold and colourful. Whether you love to try new things or are a little nervous about such strong looks, we’ve got the lowdown on the styles for Autumn/Winter 2016 and a few handy tips on how to rock them.
Glitter, bling and sparkly things
If there’s one thing that screams festive season it’s glitter, and it was dominating the models’ makeup at the Autumn/Winter 2016 fashion shows. Don’t let this trend intimidate you though; it’s easy to make sparkle wearable every day by using just a touch of intensely pigmented shimmer eyeshadow in the centre of your eyelid. This gives a beautiful effect every time you blink, but won’t be too blinding!
Hi Ho silver liner
Not brave enough to tackle the glitter craze head on? Compromise with a flash of silver liner! For a pretty feminine look that will make your eyes pop, switch out black liner for a sturdy waterproof silver and line the entire upper and lower lash line with this luminous hue.
Still smoky
Smoky eye makeup never goes out of style, but this season it’s not just limited to shades of black and grey. Create dramatic looks with super on-trend petrol blues and deep moss greens, or take inspiration from Autumn itself! Potters’ red, burnt yellow and intense taupe were strong palette themes in many designer collections.
Doll lashes
Sixties lashes are back! Overload with coat after coat of black mascara for that Twiggy effect. Or if you want luscious lashes all day and all night, why not get your eyelashes tinted with one of Imagine Spa’s 15 or 30 minute treatments? Get dark, doll-like lashes that last four to six weeks without a drop of mascara needed!
Graphic eye design
There’s a new angle to liner for the coming season... Classic liner has been transformed with modern, graphic artwork! Use bold strokes and abstract shapes to frame the eye. For the less confident, a simple sweep of black eyeliner across your eyelid takes little effort but can dramatically change your style. Make a cat-eye shaped wing but don’t fill it in to add a little drama to an otherwise demure look.
Neon is in
More is definitely more with the neon trend. Models rocked neon eye shadow and fluorescent lips in shades of pink, blue and yellow. So bright, but still very feminine!
Lip tricks
The upcoming trend in lips is undeniably big and bold or totally colourless. Matte velvet shades of ‘fruits of the forest’ in deep plum, blackcurrant and cherry red make a big statement, but avoid if you don’t have full lips. The colourless trend favours those with thinner lips; line just off the edge of the natural lip with a soft rose colour for the illusion of a bigger pout.
