Joe Brocklehurst to start a monthly blog for members

Hello my name’s Joe Brocklehurst and I’m your resident Sports Therapist at the Shrewsbury Club

I specialise in soft tissue therapy - sports and musculoskeletal injury treatment and rehabilitation

If you haven’t already met or seen me around the Club, here’s a bit of information about myself.

I qualified from Birmingham University in 2008 with a degree in sports therapy, since then I’ve worked with local sports teams and treated a variety of individuals from all walks of life. I regularly attend CPD courses and I’m always reading up on the latest research, keeping up to date with advances in treatment methods and protocols is important to me. Knowledge is a powerful tool, but to be able to use knowledge in a constructive way ‘to benefit treatment outcomes’ is an art, my experience over the last few years has taught me that everyone is different so need to be treated in their own unique way.

Sports is a brilliant way to keep active, fit, and health, however our bodies can become overloaded from a build up of fatigue, or injured through a sudden traumatic event. When this happens the injured area will need to be treated and rehabilitated, so you can return to your sport without getting re-injured. This is why it is very important to have an injury properly diagnosed and treated, so you can continue enjoying your sport and perform at the level you are capable of. Work is another area that can significantly increase the risk of injury or pain, due to repetition or lack of movement. One big problem we face these days are sedentary jobs which cause our bodies to stop moving properly, this often leads to back pain.

I work with the bodies natural healing process to speed up recovery from injury, joint pain, training, and competition. So if you have a niggle, old injury, are training hard, or competing regularly, then treatment will help you recovery and perform to your optimum level. I also offer maintenance treatments to make sure your body stays balanced and aligned, this will free up restricted joints or iron out areas of tension.

For more information about what I do please visit www.jb-sportstherapy.co.uk or call me on 07532012188.

I’m now offering a members discount of 20%, plus look out for special offers and treatment days once a month.

I will also be posting a monthly blog with tips and advice on injury prevention, training, nutrition, performance, and lots more.
