Introducing Wendy Ballard - Compass Dietetics Consultancy
Wendy Ballard RD, Compass Dietetics Consultancy - New Club Sponsor at The Shrewsbury Club.
No matter what your age, gender or build, eating and drinking is fundamentally key to one’s well-being. Unfortunately, something that is so basic and natural can also be an individual’s worst enemy. Having a dietary problem can leave people feeling disempowered, under confident, and feeling unwell. It can make day-to-day activities difficult to achieve and enjoy. I believe that having a little expert help from someone who understands nutrition and dietary conditions can have an enormous impact on the quality of your life.
So, what exactly are dietitians? Registered Dietitians (RDs) are the only qualified health professionals that assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutritional problems at an individual and wider public health level. We work with both healthy and sick people. Uniquely, dieticians use the most up- to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and disease which they then translate into practical guidance to help enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices.
Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals to be regulated by law, and are governed by an ethical code to ensure that we always work to the highest standard. We work in the NHS, private practice, industry, education, research, sport, media, public relations, publishing, government and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs). Dietitians advise and influence food and health policy across the spectrum from government, to local communities and individuals. The title of ‘dietitian’ is protected by law and only those registered with the statutory regulator, the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), can use the title of Dietitian /Registered Dietitian (RD)
About Wendy..
"I have practiced as both a paediatric and adult dietitian for most of my career and have amounted a wealth of expertise in both areas. It means I can help individuals from all backgrounds and ages and can help families as a whole as well as individually. I love the diversity of providing nutritional therapies to a broad age range as it requires a lot of imagination and flexible thinking!
I work with individuals and families mapping out their nutritional issues and aligning this to their lifestyle and any medical conditions. I prefer a holistic approach where I look at the wider picture of the individual’s circumstances and help empower them to make positive changes that are sustainable both in terms of their well-being and financially. I apply this philosophy to all areas of nutrition and age groups.
As a busy mum myself I understand how difficult it is to provide consistently healthy choices for our children whilst also looking after ourselves. Whether you are looking to lose that baby weight or would like to have advice regarding your child’s nutrition we can help you at Compass Dietetics.
Soon to be recognisable as a club sponsor at The Shrewsbury Club, I will be supporting various events at the club, so if you spot me please come and have a chat; you may have a dietary issue that you would like advice on or you may wish to know how to get the best out of your training to improve performance.
In order to mark my association with The Shrewsbury Club I am offering members a 10% discount on all 1 hour sessions which includes providing you with a nutritional plan. Please visit my website for more information."
