Guidance on Club Use After 19th July
After the last 18 months of restrictions and lockdown, we are delighted that we can return the Club to systems that will be far more reminiscent of how we operated before the pandemic hit.
As you will be aware from the Government announcements, the emphasis from July 19th switches away from following rules and imposing restrictions to allowing individuals to make their own choices around their personal safety.
Here at The Shrewsbury Club, we remain totally committed to members safety and the safety of our dedicated staff team. We have therefore decided that we will keep some of the procedures we introduced during the pandemic as part of our protocols going forward. We will regularly review the systems we have and may change them if we think it is necessary to keep you safe.
In general, we will be removing the protective screens and staff will no longer be wearing masks. There will be no one way system around the Club and both the turnstile and the gate will be available for entering and exiting the Club.
From July 19th, here are the protocols we will have in place in the various areas:
Gym
The equipment layout will change to allow us to return all the equipment back in to the gym. We will ensure there is a one metre gap between all equipment. We are keeping the personal sanitiser bottles available for members and we would encourage you to use your own bottle of sanitiser and wipe down the equipment before and after use.
There will be no one way system in place so moving between floors is easy and you can exit on either level.
Teenage Gym Use (School Holidays)
Teenage members are welcome to use the gym at the following times during the School Summer Holidays;
Monday to Friday: 13:00 – 18:00
Weekends – All day
Please note that teenagers must be accompanied by a Parent/Guardian throughout their visit and that all the gym equipment for their use is now on the upper floor of the gym.
Swimming Pool / Sauna / Steam Room / Vitality Pool
The swimming pool can be used at all times without booking. There will be no need to book for a family swim session and the sessions are not time limited.
The sauna and steam room will be available for general use as per the guidelines displayed outside each area – no limited capacity in place.
The family swim times are now as follows:
Monday – Friday: 9am – 10:15am
2pm – 3pm
4pm – 6pm
Saturday / Sunday: 10:30am – 12:30pm
3pm – 6pm
All other times are adult only.
Parents are allowed to be on poolside whilst children swim but please do make sure you are wearing the blue overshoes.
Group Exercise Classes
We are delighted to be able to extend the available capacity for all the indoor group exercise classes. There will be no markings on the floor and we hope that you will be able to get into your favourite classes. There is a new timetable to view online with the classes moving from Court 4 back into the Health and Fitness Studio or new Spin studio which has been permanently relocated to the studio opposite the changing rooms.
We are sure you will love the larger space in this area and it also comes with a Virtual class option provided by Les Mills including RPM, Sprint and The Trip. Please ask Scott, our Gym Manager fo more details.
We would still encourage you to bring your own equipment for Battle, Boxing Circuits, Les Mills Core, Pilates and Yoga such as boxing gloves, mits, mats and core bands. You can purchase your own equipment at reception at cost price.
#BASE
We know the #BASE outdoor classes have been popular and in addition to the indoor classes we will still be offering 26 classes a week at the #BASE. These can also be booked online.
The Hub
We are delighted that we can return all the chairs and tables without the restrictions on numbers or households. This will be the perfect place to catch up with friends or, thanks to the free Wi-Fi provide a great alternative to working from home.
The opening hours will remain as 8am – 8pm Monday – Friday, and 8am – 7pm at the weekend. Please note that food is available to be ordered as follows:
8am – 7:30pm – Monday – Wednesday
8am – 5:30pm – Thursday and Friday
9am – 4:45pm – Saturday and Sunday
Soft Play Area
The soft play will be open and there is no need to book in for a session. The soft play area will remain open from 9am – 6pm daily. Please note that this area is restricted to those children aged six and under. We would be grateful for parents to supervise their children whilst using this area and observing the age limits as we have experienced some unfortunate boisterous behaviour in this area from older children which has spoiled the sessions for some of our younger members.
Indoor Tennis
All six courts will be back in action and available for members to use. Please book online in the usual way and we hope you enjoy being back on court. Many thanks for your understanding and patience whilst we have had to use Court 4 as an area for the gym.
Changing Rooms
We are delighted that these are back to normal use with all the lockers back and available to members. There is no need to arrive “exercise ready” and we hope you will be able to use the changing rooms for your convenience.
We are now able to provide towels for all members at a cost of £1 or, for those paying a 5-year advantage membership, they are included free of charge. There will be towel bins for you to place the used towels in directly to reduce the handling of these items and allow our staff to hygienically transfer them to our laundry.
Members Guests
As ever, our focus remains on looking after our members as our top priority so whilst we are managing the change back to operating pre-pandemic procedures, we are still, for the time being, going to limit the number of guests allowed each day. Please do continue to book in advance if you want to bring a guest to the Club. We will need your guests contact details for the track and trace system that we believe will remain in place.
It has been a long, tough time and we are so excited that we can return the Club and the way we operate to the way we were all so used to. We think it will really enhance your enjoyment of your membership.
We do appreciate that some of my members feel anxious about the relaxation of the Government measures and so we would ask all members to respect the personal space of others in all areas of the Club. We also welcome members who would prefer to still wear masks in certain areas of the Club too.
Please rest assured that we are not letting up on our cleaning routines. You will still see our housekeeping team working so diligently to keep everywhere spotless. We really value their attention to detail and I know you do too. Our focus on delivering a clean club will never change.
If you need to contact us then please do email via [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Many thanks for your support and for your understanding over the last eighteen months and welcome back to The Shrewsbury Club – we are now fully open!
